Which grow style suits you best is completely up to your own wishes and needs. On the grow style list we have mentioned the benefits of each grow style. Perhaps this makes choosing easier for you? Do you still need help? Then use the handy Plagron Product Selector. Based on the selection of three choices you can decide which substrate suits your needs the best.
Our advice is to stick to products from one grow style. The combination of these products ensures an optimum yield. You can combine all UNIVERSAL products with products from all other grow styles. UNIVERSAL products are universally applicable.
This seems contradictory because all UNIVERSAL products can be combined with products from all culture styles. However, when you choose the recommended three additives, we guarantee you an optimal yield.
When you want to grow outdoors, we recommend our 100% NATURAL grow style. These products are ideal when you prefer a quick end-result with the best smell and taste. All of our 100% NATURAL substrates and fertilisers can be recognised by the CU logo. This logo indicates that the product is suitable for organic agriculture under Regulation (EC) 834/2007.
Water requirement depends on the plant itself, the type, the size, age and general health of the plant. These factors all have an influence on the water requirements of the plant. If you want to know when to give your plants water, you should stick a finger into the potting soil. By doing so you can feel how moist the soil is. The top layer will dry out the fastest because of the contact with the air. If you look several centimeters below the surface you will have a better indication of the moisture in the soil.
An opened product has a guaranteed shelf life of 6 months. When a product has not been opened, it will remain stable for 2 years. To determine when your product was manufactured, you can e-mail the batchnumber of your product to our servicedesk.
100% NATURAL
Plagron Allmix, Batmix, and Royalmix are all soil mixtures that are pre-fertilised for 6 weeks. They have been specifically developed for the combination with the 100% NATURAL products. Choose Plagron Allmix when you want to grow in high temperatures, with a lot of intensity, or in small pots. Choose Batmix if you want to go for the best quality and Royalmix if you want to go for the highest yield and a natural fruity flavour. Are you an experienced 100% NATURAL grower and do you want as much control over the nutrient, choose Promix with which you have to feed your plants yourself from day one.
When you choose products from our 100% NATURAL Grow Style you are growing organically and you don't have to measure the pH and EC value. An EC meter can't measure all organic fertilisers. An EC meter can’t measure all organic fertilisers. The biological life in the soil of the 100% NATURAL grow style will ensure that the nutrients remain available for your plants and will help to stabilise the pH value. That’s why you don’t have to measure pH values.
Because of its fertilisation through Bat Guano, Batmix gives your plants a strong taste and smell. You should choose Batmix when quality is the most important to you. Royalmix contains a selection of natural solid fertilisers that release the nutrients when the plant needs them. Because of this you can expect a higher development and thus a higher yield. Choose for Royalmix when you want to grow organically and when you want to go for the highest yield with a natural fruity taste. Plagron Allmix has a finer texture than Batmix and Royalmix. Because of this it can better hold more water. This makes Plagron Allmix the right choice if you want to grow organically, in high temperatures, small pots or with high light intensity. Furthermore Plagron Allmix is ideal if you plan to reuse your soil and want to upgrade it with Supermix.

Batmix is fertilised for about six weeks. When you need to start giving nutrients depends on conditions such as the amount of light per square meter, the type of plant and other factors. When you notice the leaves starting to yellow after about six weeks, you can start to add nutrients.

Batmix is maximally fertilised. For young plants that are not yet accustomed to high EC-values, it may be difficult when they are suddenly planted into a maximum fertilised soil. Therefore we recommend to flush the Batmix before putting the plant into the Batmix. This is done by filling the pot (eg 10 liters) with Batmix and rinsing it with 5 to 10 liters of water. After this, the plant can be planted directly. The fertilisers that are absorbed directly will be flushed out with the water. Within the following days, the EC value in Batmix will rise again and gradually the non absorbable fertilisers will be released.
Yes, we advise you to mix Batmix with full ground when your soil outside is very clayey. If your soil is very airy we would recommend you use Bat Guano.

According to the 100% NATURAL Grow Style you don't have to regulate the pH value when you combine Promix with Alga Grow and Alga Bloom.
Yes, technically this is possible. However, the airiness of Promix will make it difficult for the seeds or cutlings to absorb moisture. Therefore they will not develop as well and less quickly. The fibers in Promix also may hinder the seeds when they are growing out of the soil. Therefore you should rather use our Seeding & Cutting soil.
If you are an experienced 100% NATURAL grower and you want control over the amount of nutrients, then choose Promix. It will allow you to feed your own plants from day one. Plagron Allmix, Batmix and Royalmix are all soil mixtures that are prefertilised for 6 weeks. They are specifically created to combine with 100% NATURAL products. Our organic products will remain stable for 6 months after opening the product. Before opening, you can determine the shelf life by looking for the black batch number. Mail this number to the Plagron service desk (servicedesk@plagron.com). They can tell you the best before date to use the product safely.

Yes, you can. Growmix has been specifically developed to be combined with 100% TERRA and 100% NATURAL grow styles. However, Growmix is not 100% organic in it's own right. Our Alga Grow and Alga Bloom products work very well on Growmix. If you use Alga Grow and Alga Bloom on Growmix, you do not have to adjust the pH value. However, if you use 100% TERRA grow style, you should adjust the pH value.

top grow box 100% NATURAL
One Top Grow Box is suitable for 1m2. This can be, for example, five big plants or thirty smaller plants.
The Top Grow Box 100% NATURAL is intended to grow 1m2 of plants. Here you need at least 100 liters of potting soil, and up to a maximum 300 liters.
Combined with the mineral nutrition of the grow style 100% TERRA you need enzymes. Since the substrates in the 100% NATURAL grow style contain microbiological life that creates enzymes you don't need to add them. That's why there is Pure Zym instead of Vita Race in the Top Grow Box 100% TERRA.
Plagron Allmix, Batmix, Royalmix and Promix are specifically designed to combine with the Top Grow Box 100% NATURAL.
100% TERRA
Yes, you should check the pH value. The 100% TERRA nutrition will already adjust the pH value in your nutrient solution. However, as tap water quality differs everywhere, you should check if the pH value of your nutrient solution is 6.0. If this is not the case, adjust the value using pH Plus and pH Min.
Lightmix and Growmix have been specifically developed to be combined with 100% TERRA grow style nutrition.

No. Growmix contains nutrition for the first three weeks, so if your plants start flowering within this period you do not need to use Terra Grow.

Lightmix is already pre-fertilised for one week. Start giving nutrients after one week.
Yes, Lightmix has been formulated to grow using mineral nutrition. This means that the pH value affects how well the nutrition is absorbed.
Planting 1-2 week old seedlings in Lightmix will cause no problems.

In 90% of the cases, Terra Grow will adjust the pH value itself. However, as tap water quality differs everywhere, you should check if the pH value of your nutrient solution with Terra Grow is between 5.5 and 6.5.
Yes. If you want to remedy a nutrient deficiency in the growing phase as quickly as possible, for example because the leaves are yellow, you can spray the leaves with Terra Grow. Use a maximum dose rate of 2 ml/litre.
Terra Grow can be stored for four days after it has been mixed with water. Do monitor the pH value, as this will probably start to slowly increase. Make sure that no organic products have been mixed into the solution, as they can start to spoil after just 48 hours. Also ensure the solution is kept moving (circulation pump) and that the tank is clean before you mix the solution.

You can start using Terra Bloom from the first day of the flowering phase, unless the soil still contains nutrients. If you grow using Growmix (which contains fertilisers for three weeks), after one week of growth you will only have to start giving Terra Bloom after the second week of flowering.
Terra Bloom can be stored for four days after it has been mixed with water. Do monitor the pH value, as this will probably start to slowly increase. Make sure that no organic products have been mixed into the solution, as they can start to soil after just 48 hours. top grow box 100% TERRA
One Top Grow Box is suitable for one square metre of plants. This may be five large plants, or 30 smaller plants.
Enzymes are required in combination with the mineral nutrition from the 100% TERRA grow style. Enzymes are not required in combination with the 100% NATURAL grow style. This why the Top Grow Box 100% TERRA contains Pure Zym instead of Vita Race. Vita Race can be used in the 100% TERRA grow style.
Lightmix and Growmix have been specifically developed to be combined with the Top Grow Box 100% TERRA.
100% COCO
Yes. If you use 100% COCO grow style you should adjust the pH value of your nutrient water to somewhere between 5.5 and 6.5 after the products have been mixed.
Drainage is essential for the best results and the fewest problems. If you prefer to grow without drainage, it is better to use potting soil instead of 100% COCO substrates.

No. Cocos Premium has already been rinsed and buffered, in accordance with the highest standards. You can start potting your plants immediately.

Did you use a lot of fertiliser during your last harvest? Then keep in mind that not all nutrition dosed may have been absorbed by your plants. As a result, the EC or pH value of your soil might be too high for reuse. You can lower the EC value by rinsing Cocos Premium after use. The pH value can be lowered by using PH Min or Lemon Kick.

It is best to change the Cocos Slab in any case after six months.

We advise adding 4,5 litres of water per Cocos Brix. This creates 9 litres of coconut substrate.
The quality is identical. Cocos Premium is shipped from Asia to the Netherlands pressed, and is soaked here.

100% COCO is a hydrological growing method. With hydrological methods, you give more of all the nutrients than the plants need. What the plants don't use drains away. Cocos A&B contains enough growth nutrients (plenty of nitrogen for example) and enough flower fertiliser (such as plenty of phosphorus and potassium). As the plant only absorbs what it needs, in the growth phase you can also provide flower fertiliser which the plant doesn't actually use. And vice versa. This is why there is no separate growth and flowering product for hydrological fertilisers.

100% HYDRO
There are various reasons: 1. You as the grower determine the pH value. 2. You as the grower determine the nutritional value. 3. You can compensate for incorrect pH and EC values within an hour by flushing. Then adjust to reach the desired pH and EC values in the substrate. This enables you to respond precisely to the needs of the chosen plant.
In the 100% HYDRO grow style the grower is responsible for determining key factors such as the pH and EC value. It only takes a single mistake to burn the roots and ruin an entire crop! Make sure you have enough experience to measure the pH, calibrate the pH meters and adjust the pH in the nutrition tank. This system also usually uses irrigation systems. This also requires experience, as an incorrectly set timer can allow the plants to dehydrate - or drown them!
With 100% HYDRO grow style, the pH and EC values can change relatively quickly. If you want monitor exactly what is going on in your substrate, you should be able to measure easily. We therefore advise 100% HYDRO growers to buy this type of meter.
Yes, 100% HYDRO products from Plagron are extremely suitable for combination with all watering systems.
euro pebbles
Euro Pebbles have already been rinsed. However, dust is formed during transport, so it is best to rinse Euro Pebbles before use. You will also want to give nutrient feed water with the correct EC and pH value before planting.
It is almost impossible to give too much water on Euro Pebbles, as the gaps between the pebbles are very large. Rather, make sure you give enough water! Water at least twice a day, including during the night. Some growers also water continually during the day.
You can use Euro Pebbles for many years. After harvest, soak the Euro Pebbles for 24 hours in a solution with Pure Zym and a pH value of 5.5. Then rinse them thoroughly with a nutrient solution with 1 ml/litre Hydro A & Hydro B and a pH value of 5.5.

Yes. The pH value of the nutrient solution must be between 5.5 and 6.5. The chelates in the nutrient solution improve the absorption at deviating pH values. However, as the pH value of your substrate may increasingly deviate from the pH value in the nutrient water you supply, adjusting the pH value of your nutrient solution is still necessary.

UNIVERSAL
All of Plagron's UNIVERSAL products carry a purple label. The products in the UNIVERSAL category are additives. The UNIVERSAL products are sub-divided into boosters, enhancers, pH controllers, substrate complements and germination products. The icons on the products indicate the sub-category. All the UNIVERSAL products can be infinitely combined with products from the four grow styles.
The packaging shows which UNIVERSAL products are organic. The CU logo shows which additives are organic. This logo indicates the suitability of the product for organic agriculture and horticulture in accordance with Council Regulation (EG) 834/2007.
power roots
You ideally want the plant to develop enough roots early in the flowering phase, so the plant can utilise its energy to produce flowers. Stop giving Power Roots from the third week of flowering.
Up to 48 hours after preparing the nutrient solution. Power Roots contains many organic ingredients. These can spoil in a solution after 48 hours.
pure zym
Yes, but it's not necessary. If you grow using 100% NATURAL there are already micro-organisms in the soil that create enzymes.

vita race
Vita Race can be combined with every grow style, provided you spray Vita Race onto the leaves. If Vita Race is applied via irrigation, water onto soil only.

Yes, this is not a problem provided Start Up is not stored in the solution for longer than 48 hours. Stop using Terra Grow, Power Roots and Vita Race if you are using Start Up. Do not use Start Up if you grow on 100% COCO or 100% HYDRO.

Yes, Sugar Royal works differently to the flowering stimulator in Green Sensation.

Yes,this works. However, it is best not to do so since this will alter the NPK value of your fertilisers.
The amount of pH Plus in your solution depends on the water quality and how much nutrient is used. This constantly changes the amount of pH Plus required. You should use a pH meter or pH strips.

Yes, this works. However, it is best not to do so since this will alter the NPK value of your fertilisers.

lemon kick
If you grow organically, you do not want to use phosphoric acid or nitric acid, because this destroys the important micro-organisms in the soil. In addition, phosphoric acid or nitric acid will alter the NPK value, while Lemon Kick will not.
Yes, Lemon Kick does not harm the micro-organisms in the soil.
As Lemon Kick is organic, it will have degraded after 24 hours and will lose its acidifying effect.

mega worm
The worms are removed from Mega Worm with a sieve so they can decompose and convert a new batch of organic material. The survival chance of worms during transport, and during growing in pots, is also very low.
Yes and no. Mega Worm contains hardly any directly absorbable nutrients, but it does have a lot of micro-organisms. They can convert organic components in your soil into the plant absorbable fertilisers. This forms many high quality nutritional elements such as vitamins, antioxidants and enzymes. They nourish and stimulate plant growth.
Yes, Mega Worm and Bat Guano can be used to upgrade your soil. You can decide the ratio yourself so you can influence the taste and smell of the end product. Yes, but it only makes sense adding Supermix if you have already harvested a crop from this soil. These soils have maximum fertilisers if they are unused.
No, Supermix can only be added to soil.
This is not necessary. Supermix already contains Mega Worm (worm castings) and Guano Peru (sea bird droppings).

Yes. Bat Guano and Mega Worm can be used to upgrade your soil. You can decide the ratio yourself so you can influence the taste and smell of the end product. This is hard to say, because it depends on the type of soil, the plant, the amount of plants per square meter and the growing climate. Keep a good eye on your plants. If the lower (older) leaves start turning yellow, it's an indication of nitgrogen deficieny. This means it's time to add nutrition.

Yes, Perlite is a complete hydrologic substrate in it's own right.
seedbooster plus
Give Seedbooster Plus up to one week after rooting to protect the young plants.
There are many different methods that all have their own advantages. A proven method is to soak the seeds first for 12 hours in water that's 23 degrees Celsius with Seedbooster Plus. Then plant the seeds in a coconut or mineral wool plug watered with the Seedbooster Plus solution. Place this under a fluorescent lamp at 23 degrees Celsius.
